The Investment Tax Credit (ITC) was established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and successfully accelerated the US shift to renewable energy. Despite the fact that the ITC was Solar focused as it allows customers to save 26% on taxes from solar projects, the overall number of energy subsidies since then overwhelmingly favors Fossil Fuels and Wind.
