How many pounds of concrete and other materials are used to build hydropower plants?

Hydropower plants are among the most massive of all power plants. They use a huge amount of concrete to dam rivers and reroute water through turbines.

Based on research from Argonne National Labs, each megawatt hour of hydropower electricity requires an average of 53 pounds of materials (assuming a 60 year lifetime).
